This e-book provides an overview of the basic concepts and best practices employed in conserving and maintaining photographic heritage. It can be accessed through the website of the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI).

The e-book is divided into five parts focussing on the technical aspects and practical applications of methods used in preserving photographs from deterioration. It discusses several aspects of conservation of photographs ranging from protection to exhibition and dissemination.

The GCI works internationally to advance conservation practice in the visual arts -- objects, collections, architecture, and sites. The institute serves the conservation community through scientific research, education and training, field projects, and dissemination of information.
