Description*

This e-book provides a framework for the integration of cultural themes in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It can be accessed through the website of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Digital Library.

This publication includes a framework of 22 indicators for collecting and analyzing cultural data. The e-book also discusses technical guidelines for the definition of each cultural indicator based on its purpose, data source and calculation methodology. The framework is conceived as an aid for countries analyzing the contribution of culture in promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, both quantitatively and qualitatively. This framework, published by UNESCO aims to assist policy makers to integrate culture in sustainable development plans regionally and within the United Nations Development Assistance Frameworks (UNDAF).

UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes peace by building collaborations among nations in the areas of education, culture and science.

Some of the contents of the publication are:

  • Process and progress in developing the framework
  • Four thematic dimensions of the framework
  • UNESCO Culture Conventions and programs towards the 2030 Agenda
