Description*

This specialized program focusses on promoting transition of fragile and conflict-affected countries towards peaceful, well-governed and prosperous societies, while encouraging a strategic peace and security partnership between Africa and Europe. It can be accessed through the website of the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM).

The peace, security and resilience workstream is part of the ‘peaceful societies and accountable governance’ cluster. This cluster contributes to the peaceful resolution of conflict, human security and increased resilience of communities affected by protracted conflict. The workstream publishes detailed articles on a wide range of security policies and peacebuilding measures in European, African and international conflicts, including links between conflict and climate change.

Some of the contents featured are:

  • The European Peace Facility and Ukraine: Implications for Africa-Europe relations
  • Connecting the pieces of the puzzle: The EU’s implementation of the humanitarian-development-peace nexus
  • Simmering tensions: The long-term impact of COVID-19 on fragility and conflict in Africa
  • Scoping private sector engagement in conflict prevention and peace-building: Lessons from the literature
  • The latest on the European Peace Facility and what’s in it for the African Union
  • International funding for peace-building: Will COVID-19 change or reinforce existing trends?
  • Friends and money for a peaceful and secure Africa
