Description*

ICORP - On The Road project produces documentaries, ‘Camp Fire Talks' ,and exhibitions to showcase inspiring stories by professionals and local communities about post disaster response and recovery of cultural heritage from around the world. It is an initiative launched by the International Scientific Committee on Risk Preparedness (ICORP) of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). It is available for viewing at the ICOMOS official Youtube channel.

ICORP - On The Road meets the heroes of these stories in their own context, delivering their experience in documentaries produced by ICOMOS and ICOMOS-ICORP members. The aim is to raise awareness among the public and enhance social support to protect cultural heritage. Linkages to the Global Goals for Sustainable Development showcase how cultural heritage contributes to more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable communities.

ICOMOS is dedicated to the development of common doctrines for the protection of cultural heritage sites and monuments, the evolution and circulation of knowledge, the creation of improved conservation techniques, and the promotion of cultural heritage significance.

This unique non-governmental, democratic not-for-profit international organisation is associated with UNESCO, as an Advisory Body of the World Heritage Committee for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention. Its creation in 1965 is the outcome of initial conversations between architects, historians and international experts that began in the early twentieth century and eventually materialized in the adoption of the Venice Charter in 1964.

Some of the key episode titles are:

  • Reconnecting the sacred valley of Kathmandu
  • Mithras meeting back with daylight
