Managing Museums in the 21st Century, a ‘My Armenia Program’ Series

This course provides a broad introduction to the different approaches to museum operations and engagement activities. It is offered by the Smithsonian Institution through edX, an online learning platform.

The course has been developed with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and ‘My Armenia Program’, which is a collaborative program of the people of Armenia, USAID, and the Smithsonian Institution. Through the course, participants are exposed to diverse perspectives on designing exhibitions, implementing public programs, managing social media, and fundraising activities for museums.

 Some of the course contents are:

• Reviewing exhibition design, audience types, and narrative delivery
• Designing and implementing online and onsite public engagement programs for added revenue generation
• Promoting museums through social media and other outreach channels
