Module 4: Safety and Security

This module provides an overview of protection measures for heritage against theft, malicious acts, fire, natural disaster and flood risks. It is designed by safety and security specialists from the French Ministry of Culture and Communication. Most of these experts come from the police and the Paris fire brigade. This is available through e-patrimoines, an e-learning training program launched by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication (Directorate General of Cultural Heritage–Department of European and International Affairs). It was undertaken in partnership with the University Agency of the Francophonie (AUF) and the World Digital Francophone University (UNFM).

This module includes interventions on the fight against trafficking in cultural goods and the means implemented to achieve it.

• Role of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in protecting heritage during emergencies
