This seminar discusses the challenges and opportunities while conserving both material heritage as well as intangible heritage. This is available through e-patrimoines, an e-learning training program launched by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication (Directorate General of Cultural Heritage – Department of European and International Affairs). It was undertaken in partnership with the University Agency of the Francophonie (AUF) and the World Digital Francophone University (UNFM).

Some of the ideas discussed at the seminar were:

  • Assistance in the identification and preparation of World Heritage inscriptions: Feedback from experiences in Africa
  • Research and heritage development: The case of the Lalibela site (Ethiopia)
  • Poaching in natural sites classified as World Heritage by UNESCO (Cameroon)
  • UNESCO and the cultural heritage of Manden (Mali)
